One man with one huge video game magazine collection checks out the very first review of Super Mario bros. on NES. He’s doing a good job at preserving video game history. Thank you Frank Cifaldi.

The indie games coming to Wii U

01/29/2014 Leave a comment

I’m glad that Wii U has so many indie games coming for it. We’ve heard about so many titles, but what are these titles and in what state are they in? Well, I found this list that I’d like to share because it’s hard to keep track of all these games. Click on the link below to go to the article. I’m most interested in Pure Chess and Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (which isn’t on the list).

Temporary J-vlogger – Ep. 3: Gokiburi!

Gokiburi = Cockroach

In this third episode I have a guest in my hotel room, I meet some stray cats and then I have a uncomfortable sleep at a internet café. I was freaking out so much. XD I’ve never seen such a big bug in my life, and have never seen a cockroach

Hatsune Miku shop at Haneda airport

01/25/2014 Leave a comment

There’s a new (or two) shop(s) that have opened up at the Haneda airport in Japan. They are Hatsune Miku shops. Hatsune Miku being the popular vacaloid, the digital artist from Japan. It’s called Hatsune Miku Wing Shop, because “hane” means “wing(s)” in Japanese. SO wanna go there! It ought to be very expensive though. I don’t think there is a Miku themed store in Akihabra…

Check out this video below by Alex from SubTokyo giving us a tour of the shop.

I’ll probably be landing at Haneda airport instead of Narita next time!

One-point Japanese Lessons

If you’re studying Japanese you should subscribe to this Youtube channel. NihongoGears. This Japanese man who speaks very good English makes videos that focus on one point of the Japanese language. And I really like them so I want him to get more subscribers. Check out his latest lesson regarding how to say “I” or “Me” in Japanese.

Super Smash bros. at Apex 2014

So I’m trying to find some good matches of Smash from this years Apex tournament. But it’s hard. I’m gonna gather some good fights that I find here.

First up is this awesome match of Melee with veteran and rare Ganondorf-player Kage, against another rare player using Yoshi, aMSa from Japan.

Kage vs aMSa – SSBM

This next fight isn’t that great. But a few things I wanna point out. The commentary is in Japanese, that’s nice if you’re studying Japanese. Maybe annoying if you don’t care for Japanese. At the beginning of the video the player Fiction picks Ness, and I was like “OMG A NESS PLAYER!!”. You can see my comment below the video. I was saying thatbecause Ness is my main and Ness players are rare, I got excited but then after the warm-up he changed to Fox. Lastly, Hungry Box is a veteran but he seems rusty here.

Hungrybox vs Fiction – SSBM

My favorite Smasher is Mew2King, not only because he’s one of the best but because of his personality. He’s so awesome. And this fight is awesome. He’s playing against a Swedish guy! Leffen. First it looks like Mew2King is having some problems but then he shows who’s best.

Mew2King vs Leffen – SSBM

Here we got Mango vs Dr. PeePee, two of the best Smashers. Mango currently being considered the champion, this match plays out oddly.

Dr. PeePee vs Mango – SSBM

Not much to say about this next match, it’s Mango again and he does his thing against Hungry Box.

Hungry Box vs Mango – SSBM

The last fight in this match is amazing. It’s Mango meeting the Swedish Leffen. Leffen looks really strong but is Mango just playing with him? Mango of course has the crowd cheering for him which is awesome to hear, but when they go “USA! USA! USA!” it’s sound stupid haha.

Mango vs Leffen – SSBM

This fight isn’t great, for two reasons, not very exciting for me because… just watch.

Dr. PeePee vs Mew2King – SSBM

Not much to say here either, because it’s two of the biggest smashers playing each other.

Mango vs Mew2King – SSBM

And the grand final of Melee has Mew2King vs Dr. PeePee in one crazy match.

Mew2King vs Dr. PeePee – SSBM

And here we have the grand final of Smash 64, with the player that could have been the best in Melee but he wanted to stick with 64, definitely the best of 64 today, Isai.

Dext3r VS Isai – SSB64

Here’s something I really haven’t seen before, top players playing a team match of Melee. So awesome to see it go down with 4 players on stage. I’d like to see the same but without teams.

Hungrybox + Plup VS G$ + Alukard – SSBM

Another 2 on 2, with Leffen, a Swedish Smasher (as I’ve mentioned)! He’s playing together with one of the best Dr. PeePee.

MacD + Fiction VS Leffen + Dr PP

Speaking of a Swedish smasher, here’s Sweden’s best smasher in a team battle.

Armada + Ice VS Shroomed + S2J

I’m happy with my Wii U, Nintendo isn’t.

01/17/2014 Leave a comment

We all know Wii U isn’t selling that well, and isn’t getting the support it needs. This makes me sad because I love Nintendo and their consoles. They have made some stupid decisions over the years, but they still deliver on every possible front as a company. It’s just hit and miss. Even though Wii U is a problem for Nintendo, it’s not hurting them much in the long run. As some of know, Nintendo is sitting on a huge pile of money. And according to calculations they could go without a profit until the year 2052 and still not go bankrupt. But Nintendo have always had these “doomsayers”. But to my point, even though Wii U is doing poorly, I’m happy with my Wii U. Sure, I wish it had some more bells and whistles and that it had more 3rd party support and maybe be a bit stronger on the inside. But I’m getting well enough games to play. I’m a hardcore gamer and I own different 8 stationary systems, 4 separate handheld consoles. And then I have the iPhone and PC. I have waaaay too many games to play, and not enough time. I often say that I wish the industry would just stop releasing any games for a whole year. Realistically that’s not a good idea, but for me that would be a good time to play catch-up. I have 5 retail games for my Wii U. Plus some downloaded stuff. It’s been out for over a year. And that’s enough. I love my Wii U for what it does, and I love Nintendo for the games they give me. And personally that’s enough for me, but unfortunately it’s not enough for everyone. So for my sake I’m glad that Nintendo don’t have more games on the system, but as a Nintendo-gamer it hurts to see them suffer. But as I said, we all know the biggest and oldest video game creator isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. featured-image-llth
